The Mobile Dental Hygiene
This program provides in-home dental care by RDHAP licensed dental hygienists. Clients are also seen for routine dental cleanings, on a monthly basis at the CARH center in Castro Valley. This service is provided to those who are unable or uncomfortable in a dental office environment.
This program is funded by a grant from the California Wellness Foundation (TCWF). Created in 1992 as a private, independent foundation, TCWF's mission is to improve the health of the people of California by making grants for health promotion, wellness education and disease prevention.
Outreach Programs
Outreach Programs are activities funded by CARH and brought right to the doorstep of activity centers and group homes of our clients.
- The Animal Program is brought to activity centers by a local wildlife education and rehabilitation center. Our clients have the opportunity to get closer to nature and at the same time learn about wildlife and their habitat.
- Bingo is provided for those with special needs at local day activity centers. Monthly bingo games are also played at the Michael Guidotti Center in Castro Valley. This program provides the participant an opportunity to win wonderful prizes and socialize. Everyone is a winner!
- The Birthday Program sends everyone registered with CARH a birthday card on their special day. In addition, several lucky individuals are selected each month to be CARH's "Birthday of the Month," and are surprised by a CARH staff person with a bouquet of balloons, the CARH "Birthday Bear" and a gift bag bursting with presents.
- Crafts are conducted at local activity centers each month by our friendly and skilled team of craft instructors. This popular program offers much needed interaction and a sense of achievement to all who participate. All materials for these simple, seasonal crafts are provided by CARH.
- The Wish Program and Holiday Visits strive to fulfill special requests, such as favorite foods, plants, tickets to special events, and gift items delivered with great fanfare. Seasonal visits by CARH Cupid, Leprechaun, Easter Bunny, Halloween Ghouls and Santa Claus are made to activity centers, with bags of gifts for everyone.
